FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS

Can I work towards a graded exam?

Yes, absolutely. Many of our teachers regularly prepare students for ABRSM and Trinity exams. Some also have experience with other exam boards, such as Rockschool and LCM, depending on your musical goals and style.

Can I have lessons in my own home?

Yes, most of our teachers can travel to you, so you can enjoy lessons in the comfort of your own home. Alternatively, if you prefer to travel, we also have teachers who offer lessons from their homes or studios..

Do I need a piano?

Yes, having an instrument at home is important for regular practice. If you’re just starting out, a small keyboard or digital piano is perfectly fine. As you progress, you may wish to upgrade to an acoustic piano—your teacher can offer guidance when the time is right. Piano rentals are also a great option if you’d like to experience playing a real piano before making a purchase.

How long should my lesson be?

We typically recommend 30 or 45-minute lessons to start, especially for younger or beginner students. Older or more advanced students often benefit from 60-minute lessons, allowing for more in-depth work on technique, repertoire, and musical development.

Can adults start learning the piano?

Absolutely! Many of our students are adult beginners, and it’s a fantastic time to start. We have teachers who specialise in teaching adults and will tailor lessons to suit your pace, goals, and musical interests.

When is it possible to have lessons?

Our teachers offer lessons throughout the week, including weekends. We’ll work with you to find a teacher whose availability matches your schedule.

How experienced are your teachers?

Most of our teachers have at least two years of teaching experience, and many have significantly more. Our team includes specialists in teaching children, adults, beginners, and advanced students, so we can match you with a teacher suited to your needs and experience level.

What is your cancellation policy?

Almost all of our teachers have a 24-hour cancellation policy. We encourage students to keep to their regular lesson time whenever possible, as consistency supports progress. However, we understand that life happens! As long as you provide more than 24 hours’ notice, your lesson can be cancelled or rescheduled without charge.

Lessons cancelled within 24 hours are typically charged in full. If your teacher has a different policy, we’ll let you know before your lessons begin.

How much do my lessons cost?

Our teachers set their own rates, so we’re able to offer options to suit a range of budgets. On average, a one-hour lesson costs between £35 and £50. If you have a specific budget in mind, let us know when you get in touch and we’ll do our best to match you with a suitable teacher.

Do I need to commit to a block of lessons?

No commitment is required upfront. You’ll start by arranging a single lesson with your teacher. Most of our teachers work on a week-by-week basis, so you’re free to continue, pause, or cancel lessons as needed—just let your teacher know with reasonable notice.

How do I pay for lessons?

You’ll receive an invoice after each lesson, which can be paid by card or bank transfer. If you’d like, you can also save your card details securely in our system, making future payments quick and hassle-free.
